CIS 5733 - Parallel Computing Credits: 3 This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts and techniques of parallel computing, focusing on the development and analysis of parallel algorithms. Students will explore various parallel system architectures, including multi-core processors, GPUs, and distributed systems, while studying key topics such as parallel algorithm design, data and task parallelism, synchronization, and inter-process communication. Through hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and libraries like OpenMP, MPI, and CUDA, students will learn to write efficient parallel code for practical applications across diverse computational domains. By the course’s end, participants will be well-prepared to develop effective parallel solutions to complex omputational problems.
